Hello Everyone,
Last Friday, Peter Leiss, our Parks Supervisor, received a complaint from someone who had visited the park. I want to remind everyone that the park is for everyone, and that as dog owners, we need to comply with the posted leash-off times and area. I'm including a copy of the comments Peter received. If anyone knows of this incident please let me know -- kathyfischer2003@hotmail.com. Thanks, Kathy Fischer, Dog Committee, Friend of Bickford.
TheStoreFront (an innovative enterprise where cultural, economic, environmental and social activities meet to build a sustainable model for an urban village) will be hosting a silent auction, with the aim of providing free internet along a stretch of Bloor street.
Go to TheStoreFront website to find out more about the auction, the wireless and this amazing new addition to our community.

As part of Toronto's new Off-Leash Dog Policy every off-leash area in the City will now be evaluated annually by City staff in order to judge whether they meet the City's new criteria for off-leash areas in City owned parks. What those of us caught up in the City's first round of evaluations are finding out is that the "new criteria" set out in the Off-Leash Policy is much more restrictive than originally promised and also appears to be open to the interpretation and biases of the decision makers.

In the event that you haven't heard, there have been some dog poisonings at High Park. It is believed that someone put antifreeze in the dog water buckets on Dog Hill. The poisonings took place between Saturday morning and Sunday evening. It seems that six dogs have been poisoned, and either one or two are in very critical condition and are not expected to survive.
Thanks to everyone who helped me track down the owner of the dog that bit me in a fight with my dog. He confirmed that his dog's shots were up to date. A special thanks to the Linux Cafe.
Hi there
I still haven't found the dog that bit me (again, not seriously and not intentionally) but the folks at Linux Cafe thought that it might be named Bruna. So if you know the dog and the owner, ask him to call me at 416-994-0519 just to confirm that Bruna has had her shots. Thanks. Eveyone has been very very helpful.
Michael
Please help
On Sunday, my dog and another dog got into a brief fight. As I tried to break it up, I was bitten, not seriously nor intentionally, but my skin was broken. I am 99.9% certain that the dog's shots are up to date (I didn't have the presence of mind to ask at the time). However, if I don’t find the owner and confirm that the dog had its rabies vaccination, I shall be forced to have the series of rabies shots (not fun). Since rabies is 100% fatal, my doctor won't take a chance. Actually, neither will I.
A day of food and fun in the summer sun.

Peanut went missing 10 days ago. We were all very worried, as he's our favorite Mexican Jumping dog. Dawn went on an all out campaign, postering, checking the animal shelters and walking the streets.
Happily, news just came in that PEANUT HAS BEEN FOUND !

Thanks to everyone who pitched in on the "search and rescue". This is another good reason to be sure there is at least one good photo of YOUR dog in the gallery
Bickford Park Music Festival, 2008
Allow me to introduce myself; my name is David Patrick, and I am the proprietor of Linuxcaffe, at 326 Harbord Street.
This letter is to ask your assistance in helping the local community realize a music festival in Bickford Park this summer, on August 16th. I am speaking for the community, in this case, because I know them well; I'm a Friend of Bickford Park, the webmaster of www.bickfordpark.ca, I live about 120 steps from the park, and I serve hundreds of my friends and neighbours coffee every day.
